SEG’s Talent and Hard Work (August 2010)

Sports Entertainment Group is still moving onwards and upwards. Every day we experience the spectacular development of our company in the different industries and our clients active in the worlds of sports and entertainment. It is nice to see that all the hard work of the past 10 years is being repaid.

In the recent FIFA World Cup in South Africa some of our clients played an important role with Keisuke Honda as lightning example. From a small team in the first division in Holland (VVV Venlo) via the Champions League (with CSKA Moscow) to the World Cup (with Japan) within one year, it sounds like a dream come true. Hard work and talent are the cornerstones under this beautiful story, becoming a living legend in Japan in under 12 months. Without talent you cannot make the difference in World Cup games, but without hard work you cannot do this either. Keisuke is the living example of combining his talent with a military mentality. After meeting with Keisuke personally after his great game versus Denmark I am even more impressed by his dedication and focus. To me he is one of the revelations of this World Cup and I am proud that my SEG-colleagues Kees Ploegsma jr and Alex Kroes represent him. I am convinced that Keisuke Honda will impress more and more football fans in the near future.

SEG Music is growing and growing. Lots of young talent is signed or about to sign to all kind of labels. From the major labels like Universal, Warner, Sony-BMG and EMI to the smaller, independent ones, everyone is recognizing the talent under SEG management. An example of a revolutionary act is the girl band Poppy and the Jezebels. 4 Birmingham 18-year olds, writing their own music and lyrics, will surprise the United Kingdom and Europe later this year with their debut album. Mute Records as their label is putting a lot of effort in this with the girls and SEG to make this to a great success and I am very curious what the near future will bring them. Also here we can see that talent and hard work are the necessary ingredients for a professional, successful career.

Whether my personal favorite Mark Hole is able to combine his talent and hard work is not a question at all. The only issue will be which label will recognize this enormous talent first. I strongly believe that also Mark Hole will show the world this year how talented and gifted he is. And to me it doesn’t matter which label beats the other first.
