Salzburg coach Ricardo Moniz thinks his team are in a “good rhythm”

Salzburg coach Ricardo Moniz thinks his team are in a “good rhythm” going into their final Europa League Group F game. The Austrian outfit are in Slovakia to take on bottom side Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday night. Salzburg are currently second, level on points with third-placed Paris St Germain, who they hold the advantage over in terms of head-to-head record. That means if the two teams finish with the same amount of points after Wednesday’s matches – PSG host already-confirmed group winners Athletic Bilbao – it will be Salzburg who advance to the knockout stages. Victory over Slovan will guarantee that outcome and Moniz, whose side came from a goal down to beat Admira 2-1 in a domestic league fixture on Saturday, feels there is a momentum with his players at the moment which should set them in good stead as they look to seal their qualification. “Our play comes and goes with our self belief – and that makes every taste of success important for us,” Moniz told Salzburg’s official website. “It can make the difference in European matches. “We are playing in a good rhythm and that is definitely an advantage against Slovan, who have finished their season already. “If we play in the same way as we did when 1-0 down against Admira then I’m not worried at all. “I’m expecting us to show our true and positive face in Bratislava.” Moniz is hopeful that defenders Christian Schwegler, Petri Pasanen and Franz Schiemer are all fit to take part, but midfielders Simon Cziommer and Christoph Leitgeb will miss out through suspension. Fellow midfield man Dusan Svento, meanwhile, is looking forward to playing for Salzburg in his native Slovakia. “It is something special to play against a Slovak team in my home country,” Svento said. “I expect Slovan to be highly motivated. A few players are playing for their contracts and want to prove themselves before the winter break. “We have a big chance on Wednesday and we want to use that.” Slovan defender Martin Dobrotka believes the hosts could benefit from the fact the pressure is on Salzburg to get a positive result. “Our advantage may be that we can succeed, but they must,” Dobrotka told www.skslovan.com. “In football psyche is always very important. We’ll see how it goes.”
