With The Noisettes, it’s always best to expect the unexpected. Two years on from a debut album awash with punk spirit and scorching blues-rock, the band returned with Wild Young Hearts in 2009, a set of sleek pop songs steeped in soul, dizzy on disco and harking back to the days of blues and jazz greats.
From the stomping electro-rock of Saturday Night and galloping funk grooves of massive hit Don’t Upset The Rhythm, to the joyous, jazzy title track, the glorious ‘60s-tinged soul of Never Forget You and the sultry, shimmering pop of 24 Hours, in Wild Young Hearts, Noisettes made one of 2009's most adventurous albums. The band are now writing and recording material for their eagerly anticipated third album, to be released in 2012 on Universal's Mercury Records.
The band recently performed at various UK festivals over the summer, delivering a sensational show awash with punk spirit, sleek pop, electro-rock, and a spot of gymnastics! Described as ‘the best live band in Britain’ by The Guardian, the shows saw lead singer Shingai appear on a beautiful white and gold podium. “The idea of putting on a proper show seems to be missing from a lot of young bands at the moment,” says Shingai. “We always go that extra mile to give the crowd a night they’ll never forget. I love artists like Hendrix and Bowie who fussed over their hair and took time choosing an outfit."
Expect more fabulous performances and brand new music from The Noisettes in 2012.
