SEG’s Music Supervision department is run by Marc Marot & Claire Freeman, who between them bring a wealth of music and film experience to the table.

Marc is one of the UK's most respected music executives with 27 years experience at the highest level of the UK music industry. As President of Island Records throughout the 90s, he was responsible for perhaps the label's most successful decade and supervised U2's recording career over a period during which they sold over 50m records. In 2007 he masterminded the comeback of Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), selling 850,000 units of Islam's first album in 27 years.

Marc Marot: Marc's love of Music Supervision work started in the early 1980's working for music publisher Eaton music who specialised in the management of film composers. Amongst the first major projects he worked on was Alan Parkers 'Angel Heart' scored by his life long friend Trevor Jones.

Many other projects followed including notable films such as 'Mississippi Burning', 'Notting Hill' and 'In the name of the Father'. As the managing director of Island records Marc acted as the label A&R co-ordinator for the triple Platinum selling soundtrack album for 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels'. The Nottinghill soundtrack was extremely successful spawning the number 1 single Ronan Keating's 'When You Say Nothing at All' which went on to sell 4 million CD's worldwide. He was appointed music supervisor for CinemaNX in May 2007.

Claire Freeman: After studying film-making and music composition at Brighton University, Claire worked for many years composing synthetic scores and sound-scapes for television and a number of independently commissioned shorts. She made the move into music management in 2006 working as assistant to Marc Marot at Terra Firma, (now SEG UK) looking after many artists and composers, organizing shows and promo worldwide. Clients included legendary DJ Paul Oakenfold, Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) and film composer Trevor Jones.

In 2008 Claire took up the full time role as Music Supervisor for SEG heading up the department and overseeing the entire Music Supervision process for each film; sourcing and licensing commercial tracks for inclusion, selecting a Composer and negotiating the deal, running all budgets, supervising orchestral sessions and overseeing & negotiating on all accompanying legal documentation. Coming from a music management background, she also has a wealth of label, publishing and artist contacts which are invaluable within this field and is well placed to secure soundtrack album deals for the films.

In addition Claire looks after the Composer and synchronisation deals for SEG’s own artists, and regularly pitches material for adverts, film and TV syncs.

SEG supervises an average of four films per year and also provides a service to all of its artists for sync opportunities in the worlds of film, television and advertising.
