CyclingClassNL has announced a new partnership with international sports management agency SEG, which will join the Dutch talent programme as a performance partner and sponsor for the next three years. The collaboration aims to prepare the most promising young Dutch cyclists for a future in professional racing.
CyclingClassNL, a joint initiative by KNWU, NOC*NSF and Team Visma | Lease a Bike, offers a high-performance environment for elite junior cyclists in the Netherlands. Athletes follow a daily training regimen and receive guidance in areas such as nutrition, physical development and personal growth.
Under the new agreement, SEG will open the doors of its Amsterdam-based Performance Lab and Cycling Lab to CyclingClassNL athletes. Riders will gain access to a full range of services, including endurance testing, aerodynamic assessments, bike fitting and high-level performance support. A team of exercise physiologists, sports physiotherapists and nutrition experts will provide tailored coaching. Riders will continue to compete for their own clubs alongside the support they receive from SEG and CyclingClassNL.
Since its launch in 2021, CyclingClassNL has supported around 50 riders, two-thirds of whom have progressed to Continental or WorldTour teams. Several have already made their mark on the international stage. In September, Megan Arens and Michiel Mouris – both just 18 – became junior time trial world champions at the World Championships in Rwanda.
SEG, too, has a strong track record in talent development. From 2015 to 2022, the SEG Racing Academy helped shape the careers of top-level riders including Thymen Arensman, Jordi Meeus, Kaden Groves, Fabio Jakobsen and Daan Hoole. Early 2025, the Academy returned in a revamped form, now focusing on supporting international U19 projects and individual athletes through performance services and knowledge sharing.
“This partnership marks a new phase for CyclingClassNL,” said Head Talent Coach Martin Truijens. “SEG strengthens our performance team and broadens our reach. These are key steps in solidifying our position as the leading training institute for Dutch cycling talent. With SEG on board, we’re in a stronger position to support young riders in their journey towards the professional ranks.”
SEG Cycling Director Eelco Berkhout added: “From 2015 to 2022, SEG Racing Academy played a valuable role in Dutch talent development, and many of those riders are now performing at the top of the sport. With the changing dynamics in cycling, it’s clear there’s growing demand for structured development at the junior level. We’re impressed with how CyclingClassNL has been working with U17 and U19 talent in recent years. Our independent position, market knowledge and advanced performance tools allow us to make a meaningful contribution to their mission. We’re excited to work with Martin and his team to help the next generation of talent realise their dreams.”
